Located on the largest of the Hawaiian Islands, Oahu, is the vivacious city of Honolulu, a city that is home to a smorgasbord of people, activities, restaurants, nightclubs and, most importantly, the three best hotels in the state. In Honolulu, five star hotels are unique and cater to all who seek the ultimate pleasure and true comfort that a five star hotel can provide. From surf lessons to free bicycle rides, to shuttle services to private lagoon waters where dolphins roam, the beach front along the coast has never been more exhilarating.

Honolulu very rarely experiences a vast change in weather and the temperatures throughout the year are pretty consistent, giving it the smallest difference in seasonal changes out of all the cities within the U.S. Highs and low in both summer and winter are only a few degrees apart, and the temperature of the crystal clear waters is extremely high compared to that of the rest of the world.

The city itself is located on a narrow plain between the Koolau Mountain range and climbs just up about the Punchbowl, an extinct volcano that borders the outskirts of the conurbation. It sits at about fifteen feet above sea level.

Directly translated from Hawaiian, Honolulu means 'sheltered bay' or 'peace of shelter'. Settlers have been dated to have colonized the area back in the early 800s. The location of the islands have made them prime bay point for shipping between Asia and North America, and ports and harbors have been established here for centuries. Descendants of missionaries designated Honolulu as their headquarters, making it the focal point for business and for sea travel for all of the Hawaiian Islands and the mainland of America. The late 1800s and early 1900s saw the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy and subsequent assimilation into the United States. Under the mainland's rule, Honolulu brought about skyrocketing tourism, and it was during this period that the first hotels on Waikiki were constructed. American rule also brought the U.S. military to the islands, which built several bases, not the least of which was nearby Pearl Harbor. This base is of course famous for the surprise attack by the Japanese in 1942, forcing the U.S. into the Second World War.

There are three hotels in Honolulu that have attained five star status: the Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk, the Kahala Hotel, and Resort and the Royal Hawaiian. No other hotel in Hawaii surpasses these in excellence, extravagance, or outright opulence.

The Trump Waikiki Hotel is located footsteps away from the coveted white sand beaches and sparkling waters, and is the newest landmark of the Waikiki Beach Walk. All suites are set up in a lavish style and make even the most discerning of guests feel right at home. From world class spa rooms and luxurious boutiques and fitness centers, the Trump Hotel has got it all. Breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, a massive outdoor pool with matching deck for stylish sun-tanning, an on-site restaurant and elegant cocktail lounge pushes this hotel to trophy-status.

The Kahala Hotel and Resort is hidden on the banks of a secluded beach only minutes from Waikiki. All rooms within the hotel are fully furnished with the latest amenities, including flat screen TVs and high speed internet access. Gourmet dining opportunities, a club for children, and a free shuttle service are just some of the hotel's outstanding facilities that are provided to make your stay beyond belief. This truly is one of Honolulu's finest hotels and is a treat for the whole family.

The Royal Hawaiian has an unrivaled location of the Waikiki beachfront. With two outdoor pools, a private beach section, and all round exceptional service, the Royal is a pinnacle on the forefront of luxury. The signature concierge service is globally renowned for its arrangement of endless aquatic activities, including surfing, snorkeling and parasailing. There is also an array of fine dining options available like the Azure restaurant for fresh seafood, the Mai Tai Bar for perfect cocktails, and the Surf Lanai for breakfast and lunch buffets.

Honolulu is overwhelmed with activities and places to be and see. Museums like the Bishop Museum and the Honolulu Academy of Arts are momentous attractions, and due to its location, the water activities are evidently endless. The sightseeing is also something that is a must-do when on vacation in these semi-tropic lands. Extinct volcanoes and volcanic craters like Punchbowl and the Diamond head are all in close proximity and the nearby mountain range is littered with paths and hikes that make for fantastic viewing.

A stay in any Honolulu five star hotel is something that will alter your outlook on hotels forever. Experience each and every moment in the very heartbeat of Hawaii and celebrate life and love in one of the most globally recognized holiday locations today. Redefine your lifestyle and book a suite overlooking the ivory beaches, and make your wildest fantasies a reality in Honolulu.
